Grant Programs

The Moroccan American Cultural Center is a 5 01 c (3) not-for-profit organization that works to build stronger cultural and educational ties between Morocco and the U.S. through its support of programs that enhance bilateral relations and cooperation. The Cultural Center offers small grants (from $250 to $5,000) to individuals and organizations working to further these goals.
MACC reviews and assists applicants to its own and other grants for projects of artistic, educational, and cultural significance. Proposals for MACC grants are accepted on a continual basis.


Previous Grantees include:

  • The Book Caravan, to teach children in rural Morocco reading and computer skills through the creation of written and photographic weblogs
  • The Maghreb Center, for their 2007-2008 Speaker Series lectures
  • Scholarships for undergraduate students to study abroad in Morocco
  • The Middle East Institute, for their Summer Garden Series
  • The Center for Strategic and International Studies for programs that promote a greater awareness of US national interests in the Maghreb
  • The Center for American Progress for programs that encourage insights into key Maghreb develop issues

Additional grants are also endowed by interested individuals, non-profits and corporations, which are asked to designate a name and purpose for their MACC grant. Limitations


The Moroccan American Center cannot provide grants to individuals or organizations that:


Discriminate for any reason including discrimination based on race, religion, creed, age, sex, or national origin.

Are sectarian or religious, unless the program or project to be funded is for nonreligious purposes.

Are designed to influence legislation or elect candidates to public office such as political action committees.

Responsibility of Grant Recipient


The recipient of any grant from the Moroccan American Cultural Center must use the funds awarded for the specific purpose for what they were originally intended. The Moroccan American Cultural Center requires that a detailed accounting of all funds along with a follow-up report on the activity or activities funded be submitted no more than a year from the date of the award. Any funds not used in the above manner specified must be returned to the Moroccan American Cultural Center.
